National Salt Satyagraha Memorial - Dandi, Gujarat
The National Salt Satyagraha Memorial is one of our most meaningful architectural lighting design projects. We are proud and grateful to have contributed to this national monument that honors Mahatma Gandhi and his historic Dandi March.
Concept
The centerpiece of the memorial features a statue of Mahatma Gandhi illuminated within a radiant beacon of light, surrounded by life-sized sculptures of the 80 marchers who accompanied him. The memorial’s canopy, shaped as two raised hands symbolizing peace and unity, holds a cluster of simulated salt crystals at the top. A ring of mounted LED lights circles the pedestal, creating a mesmerizing glow. As night falls, the light beacon rises upward, casting a brilliant illumination on the salt crystal and transforming the entire structure into a symbol of hope and unity.
Requirement
The project required a powerful yet energy-efficient light source capable of reaching and illuminating the simulated salt crystal at the top of the statue. The design also demanded a compact lighting solution that could be integrated seamlessly into the pedestal without compromising its aesthetics or structure.

Solution
After extensive evaluation of LED and laser lighting technologies, blue laser lights were selected for their superior wavelength performance, brightness, and efficiency. A custom self-cooling enclosure was engineered to house the lights, ensuring optimal thermal management and longevity. Both the enclosure and the connecting cables achieved IP54 certification, guaranteeing reliability under all weather conditions.

This project stands as a testament to our expertise in innovative lighting design, custom illumination solutions, and sustainable architectural lighting that bring art, history, and technology together in harmony.
