A dedicated Sony camera focus control system for LIVE AIR 4 SMART
SMART FUSION is a dedicated Sony camera integration system for LIVE AIR 4 SMART, connecting Sony cameras with the LIVE AIR 4 SMART LiDAR motor.
It brings Sony’s built-in autofocus functions to native E-mount manual-focus lenses and PL cinema lenses used with an E-to-PL adapter, delivering a more seamless, native-like autofocus experience.
The original SMART FUSION already set a new standard for compactness and lightweight design. But we wanted to go further.
Through extensive structural and electronic engineering, we further refined the design to make SMART FUSION thinner, lighter, and easier to integrate into any setup. The result is an ultra-compact form factor with a dramatically reduced weight compared to the first generation.
With less bulk and a lower cost, SMART FUSION makes advanced camera integration more accessible to more users.
Twist, Press, and You’re Ready
SMART FUSION weighs only 1.2 g and measures just DIA 46.7 mm × THK 0.6 mm. Inside its slim and compact body, it integrates a chip, Bluetooth module, antenna, and multiple electronic components.
Native-Like Focus Control
Use Sony’s built-in focus modes—including Wide AF, Spot Focus, Zone Focus, Focus Lock, and Tracking—with compatible manual-focus lenses for a more native-like autofocus experience. Focus can be controlled directly from the camera screen or by half-pressing the shutter button.

Lens Settings
Once powered on, SMART FUSION automatically connects to the motor and calibrates the lens travel. It is ready to use once calibration is complete, with no additional lens calibration required.
When using SMART FUSION, adjust the camera’s F-value to match the lens focal length. Reference: F-value × 10 = focal length (mm).
For example, set a 14 mm lens to F1.4. If the exact F-value is unavailable, select the closest one. For focal lengths of 150 mm or longer, simply set F16.
Currently, SMART FUSION only supports Sony Alpha and FX series cameras with a traditional locking E-mount, such as FX3, FX30 and similar models. It allows the LIVE AIR 4 SMART LiDAR motor to control native E-mount manual focus lenses, or PL cinema lenses mounted via an PL-to-E adapter. More camera brands and models may be supported in the future.
